Before getting called up to the Majors in 2019, Quantrill was ranked as one of the top prospects by the MLB being selected eighth overall by the San Diego Padres in the 2016 MLB Draft. He played college baseball at Stanford University and was a four-time varsity-lettered athlete in high school at Trinity College School in Port Hope, Ontario, Canada. A multi-sport athlete, he also lettered in hockey and volleyball. Quantrill enjoyed a dynamic first-year season at Stanford, winning PAC-12 Freshman of the Year while posting an ERA of 2.68.

With a feisty demeanor, Quantrill is one of the better options in the MLB to get a team fired up. As the son of former MLB pitcher, Paul Quantrill, he retains an excellent pedigree.

Outside the mound, Quantrill is an avid hockey fan as he grew up in Canada. His wife Eastin is the COO/Executive Director of Letters to Foster Children, a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting foster children through art.
