Patrick Bailey, a dynamic two-way catcher for the San Francisco Giants, burst onto the scene during his debut season in 2023, showcasing not only individual brilliance but also solidifying his role as the cornerstone of the Giants’ future. Originally from Greensboro, North Carolina, Bailey chose to continue his baseball journey at NC State. Throughout his collegiate career with the Wolfpack, Patrick Bailey emerged as a standout player. In his freshman year (2018), he garnered ACC Freshman of the Year honors, boasting impressive stats with a .321 batting average and 13 home runs. Continuing his success, Bailey earned a spot on the All-ACC First Team as a sophomore in 2019, batting .288. Despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, Bailey’s junior season in 2020 saw him maintain his excellence, hitting .296 with six home runs before the season was abruptly cut short.
Following his selection as the 13th overall pick in the 2020 MLB draft, Bailey wasted no time in showcasing his talents on the grand stage. His rapid ascent to the Major Leagues and immediate impact have solidified his status as the Giants’ catcher of the future. In his rookie campaign, Bailey was a Gold Glove runner-up, boasting one of the quickest pop times among catchers in the MLB.
