Bio
Coming off a strong 2023 rookie campaign where he mashed 14 HR in just 76 games, Matt Wallner has quickly become a key piece of the Twins’ exciting young core. A Minnesota native, Wallner graduated from Forest Lake High School and played college baseball for Southern Mississippi. The Twins selected him in the first round of the 2019 MLB draft, and he quickly ascended through the minors making his MLB debut in 2022. Wallner wasted no time showing off his big-league power, crushing a home run off Cy Young winner Shane Bieber in his first MLB game. Since then, Wallner has become known for his tape measure pop, crushing multiple 450+ foot bombs in his first major league season. Heading into the 2024 season, Wallner has solidified himself as an anchor in the middle of the Twins lineup and a young face of his hometown franchise.
