Catcher
Seattle Mariners
On-Field
Cal Raleigh, a switch-hitting catcher for the Seattle Mariners, cemented his status as one of baseball’s most complete players with a historic 2025 season. Raleigh hit .247 with 60 home runs, 125 RBI, 110 runs scored, 24 doubles, 14 stolen bases, and 97 walks over 159 games, posting a .948 OPS. His MLB-leading 60 home runs set single-season records for catchers, switch-hitters, and the Mariners franchise, making him just the seventh player in MLB history to reach the 60-homer mark. Raleigh tied a Major League record with 11 multi-homer games, won the T-Mobile Home Run Derby in Atlanta, and smashed an AL record 38 home runs before the All-Star break, earning his first All-Star Game start, the first catcher in Mariners history to do so. Building on his 2024 season, when he led all MLB catchers in games, innings, home runs, and “caught stealings” while earning a Gold Glove, Platinum Glove, and Mariners MVP honors, Raleigh’s 2025 campaign solidified his place among baseball’s elite. Nicknamed “Big Dumper,” he continues to be a cornerstone for Seattle and a fan favorite for his power, leadership, and relentless drive.
Drafted 90th overall by the Mariners in the 2018 MLB draft, Raleigh climbed through the minor leagues. With the Everett AquaSox, he batted .288 with eight home runs and 29 RBIs, and he later earned California League All-Star honors with the Modesto Nuts. He advanced with the Arkansas Travelers and the Tacoma Rainiers before making his MLB debut with the Mariners in 2021. Before turning pro, Raleigh made his mark at Florida State University, where he earned freshman All-American honors. In 2017, he drove the winning run in the ACC championship game and later hit a clutch home run in the bottom of the ninth in a College World Series game. In high school, Raleigh earned All-American honors and received dual conference player of the year recognition in both baseball and basketball.
