Bio
Danilo Gallinari is one of the most accomplished international basketball players in his generation known for his elite shooting, versatility, and leadership he provided on the court. A native of Sant’Angelo Lodigiano, Italy, Gallinari’s NBA career spanned 16 years, placing him among a select group of the league’s longest-tenured European players. Originally selected by the New York Knicks with the sixth overall pick in the 2008 NBA Draft, Gallinari spent his first two full seasons with the Knicks where he emerged as a key offensive contributor averaging over 15 points per game his second season.
After joining the Denver Nuggets midway through year three, Gallinari would spend six seasons in Denver before stints with the Clippers, Thunder, Hawks, Celtics, Wizards, Pistons and Bucks. Over his career, Gallinari appeared in 777 NBA games with 51 playoff appearances advancing as far as the conference finals in 2021 with the Hawks. Prior to the NBA, Gallinari played professionally in his home country of Italy, where he won the Italian League MVP in 2008, first playing professionally in 2004 for Unione Cestistica Casalpusterlengo. Gallinari capped off his professional career overseas where he helped lead Vaqueros de Bayamón to a Puerto Rican league championship and won Finals MVP before announcing his retirement in December 2025.
Following his retirement, Gallinari transitioned to broadcasting, serving as a studio analyst for Prime Video’s coverage of the 2026 NBA Finals.
Aside from basketball, family and giving back to the community are two things that have always been greatly important to Gallinari. He has continued to explore ways to be more environmentally conscious and work with children in need regularly. He is also passionate in pursuing new business ventures and finding ways to get involved in emerging technologies. Danilo and his brother Federico also host an Italian podcast, A Cresta Alta, where they talk about basketball from unheard stories to present-day basketball news.
