Bio

Jared Goff, a 3x Pro Bowl quarterback for the Detroit Lions, is one of the NFL’s most seasoned veterans with his decorated experience and playmaking ability. Goff was drafted first overall by the Los Angeles Rams in the 2016 NFL Draft and made his professional debut in Week 11 of his rookie season. With year one under his belt and the addition of head coach Sean McVay in the offseason, Goff took massive strides in year two winning PFWA Most Improved Player along with being voted into his first Pro Bowl and clinching the NFC West for the Rams first time since 2003. Goff took the Rams a step further in year three earning his second straight Pro Bowl but most notably winning the NFC Championship (youngest quarterback to do so) but ultimately falling to the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LIII. In March 2021 The Rams traded Jared Goff to the Detroit Lions for quarterback Matt Stafford ending Goff’s 5-season run in LA. Goff carried his early success into Detroit, most recently leading them to the 2023 NFC Championship for the first time since 1991. While they fell to the San Francisco 49ers with a trip to the Super Bowl on the line, Goff along with a star-filled Lions roster have high hopes going into 2024.

Before the NFL, Goff attended University of California in 2013 and was named starting quarterback for the upcoming season making him the first true freshman quarterback in Cal history to start a season opener. That decision kicked off what would be a historical career for the Cal quarterback who set a total of 26 university records. These records include most passing yards (12,220), touchdown passes (96), completions (977), total offense (12,086), and more. As a junior, Goff went 7-5 with the Bears and set a Pac-12 single season passing-yardage record (4,714) and a conference record for touchdown passes in a season (43). He capped off his college career with the first-team All-Pac-12 honors, and a 2015-Armed Forces Bowl game victory over Air Force.

California was always considered home for Goff, who was born in San Rafael and raised in Novato, CA. He attended Marin Catholic High School where he played football for three seasons securing his high school the North Coast Section crown, three NCS playoff appearances, three MCAL championships, and an appearance in the state title game. From a young age, Goff idolized San Francisco 49ers legend, Joe Montana, who is the reason he still wears #16 on his jersey.

With a loaded resume of accomplishments and records behind him, Goff will continue to make an impact as a contributor on the field and a leader in the locker room while he continues his journey for a Super Bowl.

Community Partners

Quarterback Jared Goff is a longstanding supporter of education at every level, which is why he partners his merchandise brand, JG16, with Merit’s FATE Program. All apparel sold helps to fund college scholarships for Detroit youth, and every dollar that is made, Goff matches. Students in the FATE Program work on real-world business projects and are guaranteed up to $8,000 in college scholarships. Additionally, the Quarterback built the JG16 STEAM Lab at the Detroit Lions Academy funded by proceeds from JG16 and his own donations. The lab allows students to participate in science, technology, engineering, art, and math projects. While with the Los Angeles Rams organization, Goff donated $250,000 to the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank during the COVID-19 Pandemic to combat food insecurity. In partnership with the Lineage Foundation for Good, Goff agreed to donate 1,000 meals to local food banks for each touchdown he throws in an away game. This initiative has resulted in the donation of 150,000 meals to Detroit’s Forgotten Harvest and San Francisco-Marin Food Bank. In 2022, the Detroit Lions nominated Goff for the Walter Payton Man of the Year award, an award that honors the NFL player who displays a commitment to philanthropy and community impact, as well as maintaining excellence on the field.
