Bio
Nick Lodolo is a young starting pitcher for the Cincinnati Reds. Lodolo is off to a fantastic start to the 2024 season with a 5-2 record and a great ERA of 3.11 with 49 strikeouts.
Before getting called up to the Majors in 2022, Lodolo was considered one of the top prospects in the 2019 MLB Draft and was selected by the Reds with the seventh overall pick in the first round. He played college baseball at Texas Christian University (TCU) and was a standout on his high school team at Damien High School in La Verne, California.
At TCU, Lodolo made an impact from the jump as he was named to the Big 12 All-Freshman team in his first season. He went on to have an eventful career for the Horned Frogs and earned First Team All-Big 12 and Big 12 Pitcher of the Week twice, posting a career ERA of 3.55.
Lodolo’s left-handed pitching style includes a strong emphasis on his fastball thrown with precision and he identifies himself as a player who opts to throw with timing, touch, and finesse. At 6-foot-6, he possesses a long frame with respectable athleticism. A young player, Lodolo still has plenty of upside and a bright future ahead.
After establishing himself as a Major League player in 2022, he made a statement in early 2023, striking out a career high 12 batters faced. Off the field, Lodolo enjoys frequent trips to Disney and down time with his wife.
