Bio

Twins’ ace Pablo Lopez has quickly become known as one of the best pitchers in baseball. Prior to the 2023 season, Pablo was traded to Minnesota after three successful years at the front of the Miami Marlins’ rotation. Just a month into the ’23 season, he was a awarded a 4 year, $75.5 million extension, solidifying his status as a superstar for the Twins, and his long-term commitment to the city. Pablo produced at an elite level all season and was selected to the 2023 MLB all-star game where he twirled a scoreless inning with a pair of strikeouts. A key piece of an important season for the Twins, Pablo led the team to their first playoff win and series win since 2004. He was dominant in the playoffs, only allowing one earned run in his 12.2 innings, including 7 shutout frames in a win against the defending World Series champion Astros. Having lead Twins’ starters in innings, strikeouts and Quality Starts in ’23, Pablo heads into 2024 as the clearcut ace for Minnesota.

Off the field, Pablo is one of the most interesting and intelligent players in baseball. The son of two doctors, he was accepted into medical school and legitimately considered pursuing a career in medicine instead of baseball. Pablo is fluent in Spanish, English, Italian and Portuguese. He is heavily involved in multiple charitable efforts, and recently held his “Pickleball for Pets” charity event in Miami which raised money for local Paws4You Rescue.
