Bio

An anchor in the Angels’ rotation with a young but historic career, Reid Detmers is one of the most exciting pitchers in recent franchise history. With just two full seasons under his belt, Reid has quickly settled in at the major league level since his 2021 call to the show. In only his 11th career start, he became the 24th rookie in MLB history to throw a no hitter when he did so against the Rays on May 10, 2022. He allowed just one walk in the historic outing. On August 16, 2023, Reid nearly notched his second career no hitter in as many seasons when he took a no-hit effort into the 8th inning of a win against Texas. He led Angels’ pitchers in strikeouts and innings pitched in 2023–his second straight season with 25 starts. Reid is the top returning starter for the Angels heading into 2024 and looks to lead the LA rotation for years to come.

Prior to his call to the show, Reid was selected 10th overall by the Angels in the 2020 MLB draft. He tore up the Angels’ farm system, earning his MLB promotion after just 14 minor league appearances. Reid played college baseball for Louisville, where his younger brother, Parker, is currently a pitcher.
