Blake Griffin
14-year NBA Veteran, Entrepreneur, Philanthropist, 2011 NBA Rookie of the Year, and 2019 Forbes 30 Under 30
Blake Griffin parlayed a high-flying NBA career into a broader legacy—spanning storytelling, sports media, and a deep commitment to opening doors for the next generation.
Bio
A former number one overall pick, Blake has six NBA All-Star appearances and the 2011 NBA Rookie of the Year title under his belt. As a player, Blake was well-known for his extraordinary athleticism and electrifying play on the court. The former Slam Dunk Champion has cultivated a reputation for his business acumen and investing prowess and appeared on the cover of the 2019 Forbes 30 under 30. Griffin has also become well known for his impressive comedic timing across various guest roles in film and television and is well known as one of the best pitch men in sports.
Blake founded Mortal Media, a Los Angeles-based film and television production company, in 2016 with his partner, retired NFL All-Pro player Ryan Kalil. Mortal’s scripted feature films and television projects aim to focus on the intersection of genre, comedy and sci-fi with an emphasis on high-concept narrative work, and unscripted projects across music, sports, and culture. The company currently has film and television projects in development with Netflix, Paramount, 20th Century Studios, FX, and Disney. Their recent work includes the Apple TV+ sci-fi dramedy series “Hello Tomorrow!” and 20th Century Studios comedy feature “White Men Can’t Jump.”
Basketball has been an integral part of Blake’s life and that will continue into his post-career as Amazon recently announced that Griffin will be joining Prime Video’s new NBA studio show beginning in 2025.
A community champion, Blake and his family founded the Team Griffin Foundation in 2017 to impact the trajectory of young lives in his home state of Oklahoma and the surrounding region through their grassroots basketball powerhouse, Team Griffin Basketball. The foundation has unlocked more than $11M in college scholarship opportunities for student-athletes since its inception.
