Bio
CJ McCollum is a sharpshooting guard for the Washington Wizards and President of the National Basketball Players Association (NBPA). A dynamic scorer and veteran leader, McCollum was a key force for the Pelicans, providing elite shot-making and playmaking, and now brings that same impact to Washington. Over his career, he has surpassed 15,000 career points, averaged over 20 points per game for multiple seasons, and was named the NBA’s Most Improved Player in 2016. He also played a pivotal role in leading Portland to the 2019 Western Conference Finals.
Off the court, McCollum is deeply committed to social impact. He created CJ’s Press Pass, a mentorship program for aspiring journalists, and partnered with local Boys & Girls Clubs to establish CJ McCollum Dream Centers, providing underserved youth with access to educational resources and technology. In 2023, he was a finalist for the ESPY’s Muhammad Ali Sports Humanitarian Award and launched the McCollum Scholars Program in partnership with College Beyond, offering college scholarship assistance to 10 New Orleans high school seniors each year.
McCollum has also made his mark in sports media, previously serving as an analyst for ESPN’s NBA Finals coverage and making appearances on NBA Countdown, NBA Today, SportsCenter, Get Up, and First Take.
A passionate entrepreneur, he founded McCollum Heritage 91, his own wine label, blending his love for business and winemaking. With his impact felt both on and off the court, McCollum continues to be a leader in basketball, media, and philanthropy.
