Bio
Ian Baker-Finch is a renowned figure in the world of golf, celebrated for his achievements as a professional golfer and his expertise as an analyst for CBS Sports golf team.
He turned professional in 1979 and went on to win 17 tournaments across the globe, with his crowning achievement being the 1991 Open Championship victory at Royal Birkdale. This triumph solidified his place in golfing history and marked him as one of Australia’s most successful golfers. In 2000, Baker-Finch was recognized by the Australian Government as a recipient of the Australian Sports Medal, which honors individuals for high level of achievement in sports. He is a life member of both the Australian PGA and Australian PGA Tour.
Following his retirement from competitive golf, Baker-Finch transitioned seamlessly into broadcasting. Since 2007, he has been a lead analyst for CBS Sports, offering expert commentary during major golf tournaments. His broadcasting career has further enhanced his reputation as a thoughtful and articulate communicator. Ian has also demonstrated exceptional leadership throughout his career, serving as Vice Captain for the International Presidents Cup Team. He was appointed Team Leader for the Australian men’s and women’s golf teams at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, showcasing his ability to lead and inspire teams at the highest level.

Baker-Finch was born in Nambour, Queensland, Australia. Since 2000, he has lived in the Florida with his wife, Jennie. He has two daughters, Hayley and Laura.
