Bio
Napheesa Collier is one of the most impactful basketball players of her generation – both on and off the court. A dominating and versatile presence for the Minnesota Lynx, Collier is the reigning WNBA Defensive Player of the Year, a four-time WNBA All-Star, a two-time Olympic Gold medalist, and has earned both All-Defensive and All-WNBA honors three times. She was drafted sixth overall by the Minnesota Lynx in the 2019 WNBA Draft and went on to win Rookie of the Year honors that same season. Collier came into the league with a lot of hype after leading UCONN to four straight Final Four appearances and the 2016 NCAA Championship.
Off the court, Collier is not only dedicated to growing the women’s game but using her status to change the landscape of the sport. In addition to serving as Vice President of the WNBPA executive committee, Collier is the founder of Unrivaled – a new 3-on-3 women’s basketball league offering first-of-their-kind equity stakes to players as well as the highest average annual salary in women’s professional sports league history. Unrivaled’s inaugural season kicked off in January 2025 in Miami, providing a financially feasible alternative to playing overseas – something that is particularly close to Collier as a mother of 2.5-year-old daughter, Mila. That same year, Collier was named to TIME Magazine’s list of the 100 Most Influential People for her role in expanding opportunities for women in professional basketball through the launch of Unrivaled.
