With two Daytona 500 wins and 15 consecutive Most Popular Driver awards, Dale Earnhardt Jr. is one of NASCAR’s most iconic figures. He now brings his experience to broadcasting and business, where he remains a respected voice in the NASCAR community.
Bio
Dale Earnhardt Jr. is a third-generation racer in a family forever connected to American motorsports. His innate ability and intrinsic instincts behind the wheel have propelled him to 50 victories and two championships in NASCAR’s top two national touring series, but his common-sense charisma and down-to-earth disposition catapulted his popularity well beyond the racetrack, earning him a record 15 consecutive NASCAR Most Popular Driver awards. His performance both on and off the track culminated in his election to the NASCAR Hall of Fame in 2021.
Earnhardt Jr. won 26 NASCAR Cup races and is one of only 12 drivers to have multiple victories in the sport’s most prestigious race, the Daytona 500, winning in 2004 and 2014. As owner of JR Motorsports, his NASCAR Xfinity Series team has captured 64 wins and three series championships in 2014, 2017, and 2018. In 2018, Earnhardt Jr. joined NBC Sports Group as an analyst in its NASCAR coverage and also authored Racing to the Finish: My Story with ESPN’s Ryan McGee, a best-selling book that detailed his battle with concussions and the impact on his career and life.
Earnhardt’s business sense extends beyond the track. In 2006, he launched Hammerhead Entertainment, a production company that creates shows for national television networks. In April 2008, he opened Whisky River, an uptown Charlotte bar and nightclub, later expanding to the Charlotte Douglas International Airport in 2015. He also founded “Dirty Mo Radio,” a podcast network featuring race recaps and behind-the-scenes insights, and is the co-owner of FilterTime, High Rock Vodka, and the CARS Tour. His work in media and storytelling reached a new milestone in May 2025 with the release of a Prime Video documentary chronicling his racing career, personal journey, and cultural influence, further solidifying his place as one of motorsport’s most enduring figures.
While the obligations of being a driver and team owner occupy much of his time, Earnhardt remains active in philanthropy. In 2007, he launched The Dale Jr. Foundation, dedicated to giving underprivileged youth the resources and opportunities to improve their confidence, education, and futures.
