Bio
Mike Dunleavy Jr. is the General Manager of the Golden State Warriors and a former 15-year NBA veteran. He was named the Warriors’ General Manager in 2023 after steadily rising through the organization’s front office. Dunleavy Jr. originally joined Golden State in 2018 as a pro scout, later serving two years as Assistant General Manager and two years as Vice President of Basketball Operations. He earned his first NBA Championship as an executive in 2022 when the Warriors defeated the Boston Celtics.
A respected player before entering management, Dunleavy Jr. was selected third overall by Golden State in the 2002 NBA Draft. Over his NBA career, he played for the Warriors, Indiana Pacers, Milwaukee Bucks, Chicago Bulls, Cleveland Cavaliers and Atlanta Hawks.
Before the NBA, Dunleavy Jr. starred at Duke University under Hall of Fame coach Mike Krzyzewski. In three seasons with the Blue Devils, he earned Second Team All-American honors as a junior (2001–02) and helped lead Duke to the 2001 NCAA National Championship.
Dunleavy Jr. and his wife, Sarah, have four children. He is the son of Mike Dunleavy Sr., a former NBA player, coach, and executive who played 11 seasons and spent 17 seasons as a head coach with the Los Angeles Lakers, Milwaukee Bucks, Portland Trail Blazers and Los Angeles Clippers.
