Resilience Speaker, G.R.I.T. Framework Creator, Former University of Michigan Basketball Player
Austin Hatch helps teams and organizations build the resilience and mindset needed to turn challenges into opportunities. Drawing on his own extraordinary story of survival and perseverance, he equips audiences with his G.R.I.T. Framework, a proven approach to overcoming adversity and achieving goals no matter the circumstances.
Bio
Austin Hatch’s story is one of the most remarkable tales of resilience, perseverance, and the human spirit. On Labor Day 2003, Austin survived a plane crash that tragically took the lives of his mother, sister, and brother, where his father pulled him to safety from the burning wreckage. Against all odds, Austin rebuilt his life, found renewed purpose, and rose to achieve his dream of earning a full basketball scholarship to the University of Michigan.
Just nine days after accepting that scholarship, Austin’s life was shattered again. A second plane crash killed his father and stepmother, left Austin in a coma for over two months, and forced him to relearn how to walk, talk, and live. Through extraordinary determination and the support of medical teams, family, and friends, Austin did what many thought impossible. He made it to Michigan and played for the Wolverines.
Today, Austin channels those experiences into a powerful message for audiences everywhere: adversity is universal, and so is the capacity to overcome it. He equips teams and organizations with a framework built around G.R.I.T: a four-part model driven by Greater Purpose and anchored in a Growth Mindset, Resilience, Integrity, and a Team First Mentality.
Austin believes that when we work for something bigger than ourselves, we unlock the drive to take massive action, honor our commitments, and bring out the best in those around us. His mission is simple: to help others turn their greatest challenges into their greatest opportunities.
